language

In combination, earlier examples of
Randomly generated molecules display
Properties that only intellectuals
Can find the words to convey

But, as in all things scientific
The logic is not always clear
To the ordinary person who ponders
The lifetime of meaning, so there

Can be gaps in comprehension
When boffins ply us with science
When down to earth vocabulary
Predicates a reliance

On common sense of all things
English and plain
No fancy dialect
In which to retrain

Unless of course it is your intent
To liberalise our diction
And enter the realms
Of science fiction.

Twitter

I've started using Twitter
I use it all the time
I follow everyone I see
without reason or rhyme

a valentine thought

A grey sky obscures the horizon
Darkness once more prepares to rule the land
Jack Frost awakens and rouses hid troops
So night once more takes to the stand.

Dreams of Spring like snowdrops
Slowly start their evolution
Lighter mornings usher St Valentine’s day
And remind that love is indeed a solution.

Humanity reveals a nobler side
With flowers, cards and heart shaped sweets
An antidote to dour Jack’s efforts
As he tries to freeze us from the streets

So with a warm glow and scented candles
A romantic dinner for both to share
A re-generation of burning intent
Is honestly given for another year.
